In 1999, Jim Carrey immersed himself in the role of comedian Andy Kaufman, and alternately, Tony Clifton, Kaufman’s lounge singer alter ego. Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond Featuring a Very Special, Contractually Obligated Mention of Tony Clifton is director Chris Smith’s exploration of Carrey’s time spent portraying Kaufman and his transformation behind the scenes, as captured on video by Andy’s former girlfriend, Lynne Margulies and former writing partner, Bob Zmuda.
