talk of social revolution, Roman J. Israel is discursive, insistent, and unabashedly forthright about its views on ideological corruption—and, yes, racism, though I believe the word is only said once in the film. It’s a decidedly political movie for the era of Black Lives Matter, but not one that addresses that movement head-on. There’s both a directness and a glancing quality working against one another in the film, which is brave about its convictions while also shying away from them. Of.

This movie was very interesting, kept my attention at all times and had its humor and drama . I loved the character Denzel Washington played. Very well done movie and actors.

Washington's acting was outstanding! Wonderfully written script and well directed movie. Love Colin Farrell in his role too.

Denzel Washington puts on a great performance and is always fun to watch. The story, on the other hand felt like it did not reach its potential and dragged at times.

The best reason I would recommend this movie is to watch Denzel transform himself into a man called Roman J Israel. From his signature, lumpy walk to the way he eats his peanut butter sandwiches, Denzel made this character come alive brilliantly.Sadly, though, he's in a movie that's too convoluted to follow. From a civil rights plot to prison reform to corporate lawyers to money changing people, this movie had too many roads to go down, and only stayed at the crossroads. Go see it for Denzel.

Seemed like they wanted to make a Law movie about the character but I didn't end up caring enough about the character. The acting was great but it seems the plot and pacing was off.

The ending was good, but it took too long to get to it. I would have like to have seen the romantic part play out more. The end would have been better if Roman’s boss would have placed his card on Roman’s dead body bringing this practice full circle from when Roman wanted to do the same for a complete stranger. Having to infer it robbed us of the generous act Roman practiced.

I WOULD GIVE THE MOVIE THREE-AND-A-HALF STARS. IT'S VERY GOOD. IT WILL PROBABLY GET OSCAR NOMINATIONS. IT'S A DIFFERENT KIND OF STORY.
