Very beautiful. Stand out performances by Kirsten dundts and Nicole Kidman. Dreamy atmosphere achieved. Slow pacing though and the tonal change was very awkward and abrupt. The comedy was there, but it the tension was not built up to a tipping point.

Strong acting, creative directing, with a bit of a weak script. The predictability of the action isn't a problem given the strong performances and high production values in this period piece.

This film is quite very interesting showing women being kept isolated from outside world behind the gate, how powerful, discipline, strong as a woman Nicole Kidman taking charge and care for all girls, teenage student and the teacher. How they coped and reacted to a stranger and manged to save themselves back to women living again..interesting movie to enjoy!

So real, you see the kindness and cruelty of human beings.

I enjoyed the movie, the acting was fabulous, nicole kidman had the perfect role and the kids in the movie were funny and needed to be serious when needed, especially when they had to decide what they had to do to get ride of the man... really intelligent. The movie was in the war erra, the setting was great also and not mentionning the costumes would not be fair...good job. i give it 4 on 5 star.
