A thrilling and inspiring true story begins at the precipice of World War II as, within days of becoming Prime Minister of Great Britain, Winston Churchill (Academy Award nominee Gary Oldman) must face one of his most turbulent and defining trials: exploring a negotiated peace treaty with Nazi Germany, or standing firm to fight for the ideals, liberty and freedom of a nation. As the unstoppable Nazi forces roll across Western Europe and the threat of invasion is imminent, and with an unprepared public, a skeptical King, and his own party plotting against him, Churchill must withstand his darkest hour, rally a nation, and attempt to change the course of world history.

Gary Oldman completely sinks himself into this role and sets the bar for future adaptations of Winston Churchill. The script is beautifully crafted from start to finish but is its most strongest when exposing Churchill in his little moments where he seems most human. To add a cherry on top, it's probably the most British film I've ever seen.

The film was long and boring. I am a Churchill fan and think the film did not show his great intellect or otherwise do him justice. I know that he was fond of booze but the amount of alcohol he consumed in that film would have floated the Queen Mary .It is a good film to show people who have little knowledge of the WW2 era but it may not hold their interest for all of 2 hours.
