At 16 years old, Nicole Paultre-Bell met the love of her life, Sean Bell. They quickly fell in love and started a family, planning to marry on November 25, 2006. However, on the morning of their wedding, Sean was tragically shot and killed by overzealous police officers. Nicole’s world was thrown into turmoil and grief. The father of her young daughters, the man she had hoped to spend her life with, was taken from her—gunned down in the streets. After two agonizing years of waiting for justice, Nicole’s hopes were shattered when all the officers involved were acquitted.

I'm from New York so I was quite interested to see if the movie would depict the actual events and it did. The Movie was very well made and paid attention to detail. I enjoyed it.
I am so shocked it took this long for Nicole’s story to finally hit the big screen. While this is not a huge-budget blockbuster, this independent film is exactly what’s needed. Beautiful and sad true story! Loved the acting and actors portrayed in this dramatic tale. Very deep and leaves a message of determination and justice.
This was a love story that's rarely ever depicted about the Black family. It showed two young people who were committed to each other, education, family, and love. They were treated as though their lives didn't matter because they were Black. Though justice delayed is justice denied, as someone who marched in some of those protests, it was great to learn justice did eventually come.
