In this psychological fable of horror, Aisha, a woman who recently emigrated from Senegal, is hired to care for the daughter of an affluent couple living in New York City. Haunted by the absence of the young son she left behind, Aisha hopes her new job will afford her the chance to bring him to the U.S., but becomes increasingly unsettled by the family’s volatile home life. The film touches human lives in a beautiful way. In short, we are all connected to each other. Love the story.
It had just the right amount of ALL the elements!! I would have wanted just a bit more at the end. A wedding for them, A memorial for the son she lost, etc.. I Loved it thou❤️

The Nanny is a mystery movie that’s tied in with African folklore that is definitely worth seeing.
The Nanny was a fantastic film. It was artfully and skillfully written with overwhelming symbolism and cunning foreshadowing. Nikyatu Jusu’s use of fantasy while magnifying the characters’ blackness was a breath of fresh air. I am excited to see future projects from her and how she will continue to break barriers and explore the black diaspora in her films.
It was a really good film. I’m not sure if I would list it as a horror film but rather drama/suspense or something in between. Overall, I loved the film and already started recommending it to others after leaving.
