THE PHANTOM OF THE OPEN follows Maurice Flitcroft (Mark Rylance), a dreamer and unrelenting optimist who managed to gain entry to The British Open Golf Championship Qualifying in 1976 and subsequently shot the worst round in Open history, becoming a folk hero in the process.

Heartwarming, funny, simple yet delightful
Fabulous feel good movie that was well made. It had many humorous moments. Here’s to all the people that try!
Such an amazing feel good movie - based on a true story - a man with no golfing experience enters the British Open - Maurice Flitcroft has A lot to teach people about how to approach life - after all “Practice is the road that leads to perfection”
Surprisingly really entertaining and heartfelt
A lovely, funny, and touching film. Sally Hawkins and Mark Rylance are absolutely wonderful in it.
I thoroughly enjoyied this film. Well acted, well shot, well paced and especially well written. The audience was laughing throughout the movie which is always good sign. One doesn't need to love golf to love this movie. I would definitely recommend this one to anyone.
Good

I knew I'd love it from the minute I read the synopsis (a British movie based upon the true story of a guy who snuck into the British Open, and had the worst round in recorded history of the Open) that I'd like this movie.\r\rMy expectations were met, 100%. It is a truly entertaining, heart-warming story of love, family, optimism, and one man's dream of making something of himself.\r\rA hole in one!!!
