Kate Sanders (Diana Silvers) is an ambitious and gifted, if tomboyish, aspiring ballerina from Virginia who, because of her low-income status, is given a scholarship to attend a prestigious ballet school in Paris, France. Upon arriving at the cutthroat, internationally-renowned institution, her confidence and emotional fortitude are tested by a beautiful, mysterious fellow dancer, Marine Durand (Kristine Froseth), who recently lost her brother (and dance partner) to suicide. While confrontational at first, Kate and Marine’s relationship evolves into an emotionally-charged, competitive union beset by lies, sexual awakening and, ultimately, emotional breakthrough as they risk everything to win the school’s ultimate prize: a contract to join the Opéra national de Paris.

I thought it had a great plot, but towards the end it seemed to drag a bit. The pink screen that would pop up during it also was too bright for me, and the color didn’t seem to fit with the movie. Other than that, I enjoyed it and really liked the first half of the movie. There were interesting plot twists as well!

It was surprisingly thoughtful and entertaining given that the concept wasn’t anything that hasn’t been done before or something that would take my personal interests. It carried itself surprisingly well and concretely for 2 hours but I do personally feel the 3rd act should have been a bit more impactful. Whether it got more trippy and spooky or just elaborated on the characters a bit more.

It was good. It wasn’t necessarily my cup of tea but I didn’t fall asleep. The beginning and end didn’t really have any cohesion as she was more of marionette at the end compared to the beginning where her movements were less stiff. The storyline was good and I understood the plot. I would recommend it to people because I am just one opinion. Just as a side note, the “prize” selection was bad.
