A neighborhood pub in Manhasset, Long Island, becomes a second home for a fatherless boy in TheTenderBar, a poignant and inspiring coming-of-age story directed by George Clooney. J.R. (Tye Sheridan and Daniel Ranieri), whose father disappeared from his life before he was old enough to speak, moves into his grandfather’s dilapidated house after he and his mother (Lily Rabe) once again hit hard times. Under the unconventional tutelage of his Uncle Charlie (Ben Affleck), a charismatic, self-educated bartender, and a handful of the bar’s colorful regulars, J.R. grows into a young man determined to fulfill his dream of becoming a writer in this fiercely funny and blazingly honest adaptation of J.R. Moehringer’s bestselling memoir.

Great acting. Good story. A few funny scenes. A feel good movie.
It was outstanding! I can’t wait to see it again with my whole family!
Well done. Strong character study and left me wanting to know what happened next!

I loved how it featured so much wholesome male camaraderie. I feel like the family dynamic was wonderful, it had just the right amount of sadness and humor. All in all I would definitely recommend it to my friends.
Excellent!!! A wonderful coming of age, family, (both loving and broken) love and friendship story with hopes, dreams and faith. (I could go on) I found myself leaning in and yes there were gasps and laughs and wanting to talk the movie goer in the next seat (shhh no talking during the movie) so I didn’t. Waited until the movie was over, However, I as well as many others did sing along to some oldies but goodies during the screening.

Tender and sweet film at its core. Great cast. Ben Affleck and Tye Sheridan were notably good. Looking forward to watching it again when it streams. Thanks for the experience
