Synopsis:

Jack Cunningham (Ben Affleck) once had a life filled with promise. In high school, he was a basketball phenom with a full university scholarship, when suddenly, for reasons unknown, he walked away from the game, forfeiting his future. Now years later, Jack is spiraling down, triggered by an unspeakable loss, and drowning in the alcoholism that cost him his marriage and any hope for a better life. When he is asked to coach the basketball team at his alma mater, which has fallen far since his glory days, he reluctantly accepts, surprising no one more than himself. As the boys start to come together as a team and win, Jack may have finally found a reason to confront the demons that have derailed him. But will it be enough to fill the void, heal the deep wounds of his past, and set him on the road to redemption?

Loved it! I have worked as a grief counselor and I love how the story unfold and it turns out to be more about the trauma, pain, and destruction of unresolved grief then basketball. Beautifully told. I enjoyed the new faces of first time actors. Talented crew I expect to see more of in the future. Very pleased.

I was expecting more of a traditional sports feel-good, redemptive movie and was pleasantly surprised. This was a film about grief, addiction, and consequences, brilliantly portrayed by Ben Affleck and the cast of rising stars. It was more realistic, more heartfelt, more focused, and it made me leave the theater full of thoughts and emotions. Excellent movie!

Overall i thought it was a great movie from start to finish. Ben Affleck did a outstanding job with his character. His character told a real story about life and what comes with it not just one side of it
