Yes, I would tell people to see this film. I think it’s an important, well made film from an under appreciated African-American filmmaker, about a great woman in history, told from a feminist perspective. I felt as though it was the first time seeing such a film supported from a studio and it made me happy.

I thought it was an excellent movie! Anytime you can get educated with entertaining film it's a plus. Little things to improve on, those scenes when running and the characters trip multiple times, to much extra drama in an already dramatic rich movie. It's akin to horror movies the characters always think it's safer to go to the basement, too obvious. Loved the way she'd call to people in song, appreciated the historical accuracy, costume and set were excellent as well!
