MAHOGANY was Ross’ follow up to her acclaimed film debut in the Billie Holiday biopic Lady Sings The Blues, for which she earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role. This dramatic love story filmed in Chicago and Rome also stars Billy Dee Williams, her electric co-star in Lady Sings The Blues, as the Chicago politician who falls in love with her. Anthony Perkins is at his best portraying a malevolent fashion photographer who masterminds, then tries to sabotage Mahogany’s career. The film received an Oscar® nomination for Best Music, Original Song for “Theme from Mahogany (Do You Know Where You’re Going To?),” which also became a #1 hit.
