I thought the movie was incredibly moving, frustrating (much like Mary's strife), and progressive. I would recommend this movie for sure.

Outstanding, talented cast brought believability to the characters. The cinematography and costumes merit Oscar consideration. I would see this film again.

The Actors did an excellent job and the script made me respect words again. Storyline was great and now I need to read the story of Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth.

Epic drama of power (much like men who behave this way all the time)!Opportunity to challenge thinking!!!

There is lot in that movie that highlights the humanity and vulnerabilities of both queens in a world dominated by men and bigotry. I thought the contrast berween the two courts was well done but some scenes in Scotland may not be well understood and may unjustly portray Mary as more vain than her cousin or she may have been. We get it that Mary’s French influence(French mother/extended time in France) had given her an aporeciation for artsy stuff in sharp contrast with the lifestyle of the two courts. In the movie this irritated her contemporaries and contributed greatly to her downfall.

Saoirse Ronan did an outstanding performance playing Mary Queen of Scots. Politically driven, endless betrayals, pitting women against women - this movie had the recipe to be a fantastic film but aspects of it seemed really long despite telling a compelling story.

This is a great period piece and the acting was fantastic. Saoirse Ronan was compelling. She was a young Queen who was in a "man's world" and manipulated throughout even when she was making rightful decisions. The men during that time found a way to divide the the young queens to do their bidding and ending with the death of Mary Queen of Scots. This movie sheds light on the ways women are suppressed even to this day. Although Queen Elizabeth ruled for 45 years, her life was ultimately controlled throughout. This movie shows Elizabeth had to fear marriage as it could lead to her losing power.

It was so beautiful, and really stayed with me long after I left the theater. Still thinking about it.
