Movie was entertaining but very dark and intense. I would definitely not allow young children or impressionable teens to see it.

Fight scenes were incredible but the rest of the movie was lackluster

Despite the fact that it contains every boxing movie cliche, Southpaw is made special by the gutsy performances of Jake Gyllenhaal and Forest Whitaker.

Pro:- jake G, good range of emotions especially scenes with daughter- fights were brutal Con:- poor character development. Didn't get the sense of where the characters came from and where they were going- Hope's reason to fight didn't make sense, how would fighting get his diaghter back?- how did he over come his drug and anger problem? Since they were the main reason he lost his girl
