Nice boxing choreography. The plot is the same as usual, no surprises. Had it figured out before it was less than halfway through. The ole "man down, man up routine". Writers need need to be a little more serious when plotting a movie as such. Thank goodness they didn't follow a "Rocky" themed picture. Maybe next time!

Great action with a tender love story

The main reason to view Southpaw is Jake Gyllenhaal's transformation into boxer Billy Hope, who overcame growing up in foster care to wild success as a fighter. But the plot of a man who must scramble back after losing everything he cares about is one we've all viewed too many times. Despite a few interesting twists, we know how this story will end 15 minutes into the film.
