Great spectacle, but poor use of 3D, and limited character development.

I was unmoved by Ben-Hur, despite a few interesting bits (the use of Christ in the first and second acts instead of his being offscreen and performed around; the emphasis on Judah and Messala being brothers/family; the way we saw only what Judah saw when he a galley slave).The chariot race was incoherently cut into ribbons.Overall I give it a C (but 2 stars on this no-half-stars system).

could have been better...more action ...

The movie is a little too preachy and Biblical and lacks much of the action in the familiar story.
