It's very difficult to compare this movie to it's predecessor because the films of Heston's day were just plain different - the acting was the focus, not the filming. But even against today's standards, the acting just wasn't perfectly there. Rodrigo did a great job as Jesus but Judah's character's emotions fell flat after he was enslaved. Still a good film for the theater but ditch the ED.

Ben Hur was an action-packed movie that could have been amazing, if it had more elements to it. Since it doesn't, it still is an interesting historic depiction movie with good action sequences. It is an enjoyable movie for the summer, but nothing more than that.

Morgan Freeman is a good supporting actor in Ben-Hur !!!

Not a classic like the 50s version, but pretty good entertainment.
