A pared down version of the play. Sometimes hard to understand the lines since the actors were talking to a close up camera/microphone in a breathy, heavy whisper. From a stage in a live performance they would have been required to speak up and project to the audience. Otherwise, an interesting rendition of the Scottish Play.

Michael Fassbender is terrific in the title role, as is his Lady Macbeth Marillon Cotyard. This minimalist version has sky high production value & lush cinematography, not to mention austere costuming & innovative hair & makeup. All that said, this 'Macbeth' is laughable (literally evoking giggles @ my screening) @ how seriously it regards itself. Everything is over dramatized. Shame.

Screening was not great due to projector issues. Projected so dark as it was impossible to see the movie clearly due to the night time environments. The opening text crawl was in red, making it nearly impossible to read at the start of the movie and getting a grasp of it.
