too much dramas, weak editing

In many respects, a wonderful film. However, the central role Bathsheba needs strength, depth and nuance beyond what Carey Mulligan delivers. This miscasting undermines the fine acting in the primary supporting roles, good screen adaptation, and stunning photography. A good effort but ultimately disappointing.

Three and a half stars.Transitions jarring. Felt as if one was missing something. Mr. Oak and Bathsheba almost seemed too contemporary, leaving the rest of the characters in the 19th century.

The minute you saw Mr. Oake with Bathsheba, you knew they would end up together in the end, so it was a little predictable.
