The script falls a little flat, with a good amount of the dialogue coming off as cartoonish, but the production design is so enchanting that the writing blunders can almost be overlooked. Judi Dench's performance manages to carry the picture and Ali Fazal is a pleasure to watch as well.

It was good. I left there with so many questions. I wished the movie had answered them or not brought them up at all.

Did not enjoy the director's take on Abdul's character. He could have made him seem less like a puppy and more like a humble, respectful servant. Seems like the director gave into a stereotype of what lndians are like; and took away focus from what their relationship was like. I didn't get to see how Abdul's friendship developed; it was very Victoria-focused.
