Movie too long. First hr was so boring that I actually feel asleep. First time in my entire life. Last 40 min was the best. Therefore, should have shorten the first hr and made it a 2 hr movie.

While every part of me wants to like this movie, I just can't seem to make it happen. The movie is great in almost every aspect but the story failed to engage me in the reality the movie some beautiful portrayed.

While the performances were outstanding, the moral arc of the primary character is simply overlong. I find it difficult to grasp to whom this film is targeted. Scorcese fans, of which I am one, I guess. History buffs? Students of the Christian mission movement? Too long and too obtuse for anyone else, I'd say.

Movie was too long and had no real action worth remembering.. would suggest movie going to dvd or netflix..
