It was an enjoyable film. I know it is hard to adapt a book to a 2 hour film, but I think a lot of fun elements were left out of the movie that were in the book.

I thought it was really good, but not spectacular. It was very suspenseful and the humor was well-timed and often made the serious moments light-hearted. Ryan Gosling was very solid and the special effects in space were pretty cool, and so was the plot. I really wasn’t a fan of the ending though, I feel like it didn’t answer everything. There was a guy outside of the theater when we left taking notes on what ppl thought, and I told him I really liked the soundtrack because it reminded me of Minecraft music, and he laughed and we went our separate ways

It's a much cornier version of Interstellar at the end of the day. And that's great, there's nothing wrong with some corniness! Only real issue is the two scenes where the score suddenly starts to sound like an insurance commercial during happy moments. That music (only in those scenes) was almost distractingly bad unfortunately. Mostly great though!

Loved the movie, the pacing was great and cinematography was beautiful. As someone who really enjoyed the book, I missed some of the more technical content and descriptions, and there were a few plot points that could have benefitted from the book’s technical context, but nothing that significantly harmed my enjoyment
