An hour too long. Not sure if they were torturing the Christians or the audience.

Brutal story of Christian missionaries. The plot was seriously lacking for me and the movie was very long without it.

I found the movie slow and about 30-45 min too long... Disappointing for a Scorsee flick

slow to get started.. Scorsese's long tracking shots were dull, monotone narration, no music, scenery seldom changed and was not visually stimulating. characters at many points I felt were unbelievable (weren't in character, or were on the cusp of busting out in laughter instead of pain!) Issey Ogata and Liam Nelson played their parts well!
