Your typical Scorsese movie. Be prepared for almost 3 hours of watching. I was hoping it would be like Departed, Wolf of Wall Street, or Good Fellas but Silence moved VERY slowly. The acting is great, the cinematography was beautiful, but this plot could have easily only taken 2 hours and not 2 hours 41 minutes. We left a bit disappointed.

I went with my mom to see it and she didn't like this film very much but I enjoyed it. There were humorous parts to it and I think there are many different ways to interpret this movie, depending on one's religious views. The only negative I can say is that Andrew Garfield's accent was distracting. Adam Driver's accent was a lot more believable. However all of the cast's acting was superb.

I've been to over 100 screenings and This is probably the most ambivalent feeling ever experienced. The photography was excellent, but the title of this flick was very appropoe(?) SILENCE. I don't know what to think of it. A bit muddled. I understand the sacrifice and martyrdom aspect, but ????
