Good subject matter, went in too many different directions.Second half of the movie got cloudy as to what the movie was about

I didn't care for 'Roman J. Israel, Esq' the latest movie from Oscar Winner Denzel Washington.

This film disappointed me so much. Most of the movie was spent making the main character to be sympathetic and encouraged to viewer to feel bad for a well-intentioned terrible person. In fact, most of the scenes of the movie didn't contribute much to a story, but were there to build sympathy for RJI, who got his clients killed, committed fraud, and used peoples’ lives as pawns in his personal critique of the criminal justice system. He was terrible, the movie was terrible. Denzel did well.

I have never been to a movie where when it ended, the audience did not clap (well perhaps 2-3 people) and folks just quietly walked out of the theater. You could have heard a pin drop. No conversation except me saying it sucked. Seen almost every Denzel movie and this is the first that I scratched my head on. Movie theme - AWESOME. Cinematography - good. Roman's (Denzel) one-liners - priceless. BUT DID YOU RUN OUT OF MONEY/TIME/TALENT AT THE END. Horrible storytelling - editing. Ending rushed.
