Silence meanders through its plot long enough for the stakes to vary in intensity at different points of the film. The film also too easily ignores the white saviour and colonialist narrative and historical tradition it belongs to too easily (except for one scene). Watch it for the direction and cinematography.

a bit on the long side and seemed to drag in some parts, sad to see all the suffering that was portrayed in order for one to keep one's faith -- the ending was not what I expected -- he caved!

Overall good. A bit slow and depressing. Lovely scenery and great acting!

Slick, beautifully shot, intense, disturbing. First half a bit tiresome.
