I think that Dune 2 completes Dune 1. I was confused and lost on Dune one, I didn’t understand the plot or context, it was scenic for 2 hours. Dune 2 followed it up with a supporting plot & context in which I paid attention. It did remind me of Star Wars and you knew 3 would be coming out.

Too much fighting.

It made some odd changes from the book, but if you don't know anything about the original story, it is a pretty good movie. Continues to have outstanding visuals and VFX.

If you liked Dune, this is a movie for you. I would have like a bit more of a recap since I didn't remember much of Dune part 1. It was sure a pretty movie, but felt that the time with the torture murders was too long.
