I’ve never read the book and I knew nothing of the movie going in, and after the opening scene I was like how can this movie about a bunch of guys just walking keep me intrigued, but it did. Hunger Games meets Holes. Would recommend.

Very well written and intense adaptation of his novel

Walked away very impressed with filmmaking on display and the taught, tense script. The camera doesn't cut away from the visceral violence or the emotional toll written on the characters faces. I was gripped by the compelling ensemble of actors, especially Hoffman, Jonsson and Plummer. There's a slight sliver of hope in the dystopia of it all, if you choose to look for it.

A very good exploration of bonding rituals and toxic masculinity.
