Powerful, painful, inspiring!

This was a necessary film that was difficult to watch. Great acting, especially by Rahim. Very difficult to view American atrocities especially after reading about these events when they were originally happening. I'd recommend the film to other people but with reservations because of the brutality and heinous acts.

The first half was somewhat slow and felt too similar to typical films involving someone wrongfully accused or convicted of a crime. The second half improved and while there was still a touch of melodrama during the trial scene, it's in the second half where the film shows something that most films on the subject have never seen before, in a way that is impossible for anyone to ignore. This may not be the most well-crafted film on the subject, but it felt like a film that is still important to watch, regardless.

The movie is heartbreaking but it shows a sad reality in America's history.
