It was just okay. I would only tell someone to watch it so we could talk about it, but I wouldn't say it's a "must see". The story idea had potential but the plot wasn't as tight as it could have been. It wasn't quite a goof ball road trip comedy. It was a story of lessons learned but a bit too pat and simple. Some story ideas, like the jailed families waiting for deportation, or what ever it was that the father did to Asher to "change" him- those were left undeveloped and seemed almost gratuitous. The acting was good, the music was fun, and the scenery was pretty. \r

I'd recommend it as something "light", but you wouldn't be missing anything if you didn't see it. Too unfocused in telling the main story - one minute the tone is serious, the next it's slapstick. And the woman he encountered when trying to buy the plane ticket but didn't have his passport? Her mean tone was jarring in relation to the rest of the movie.- too mean.\rThe 2 leads were likable.

Enjoyed the performance from Luis Gerardo Mendez most, will be looking for his work. Conner Del Rio was good, but him and some scenes too over the top, although that's how it was written. Much if it was very funny, but some was too derivative of Due Date and him trying to be like Zach Galifinakis. Touching but some a bit heavy handed, and scavenger hunt a bit unbelievable. hard to accept father couldn't contact his son after he left his mom's house, she wasn't in charge of the mail anymore. And maybe explain on death bed or say do this later, AFTER your wedding to understand what happened!
