Very unique and interesting content (plot), great acting, and beautiful cinematography. I would recommend it with the caveat that while it kept me engaged, some people might find it slow - it's a psychological relational piece without much action is my favorite but perhaps not everybody's. The plot is also nearly bizarre - inducing illness with poisonous mushrooms to create the dynamic to keep this couple together. Furthermore both parties are complicit in this scenario. Not every viewer is going to see this as rational and plausible.

I think it's a fine film. The costumes, the scenery, the acting. But I did not love it. The director might have spent too much time on defining the Day-Lewis character, but then his relationship with the Alma character I think needed a little more film time, especially after they get married. And I loved the role of Cecyl but she pretty much disappears towards the end. She probably ended up n the cutting room floor. And she is a key character in the life of the Day-Lewis character. But I would still recommend it, especially for true film lovers. But might be a bit hard for everyday folks.

Love story drama that was great visual...story was okay. Daniel Day Lewis is just the greatest actor EVER. Within seconds he IS the character. Movie has its momenta and worth seeing. 4/5
