The acting is quite good, but the plot has an identity crisis - is it a love story, is it a road trip, is it a family reunion. It cannot decide what it wants to be.

Colorado was a beautiful back drop for this movie. Other than that, I don't have anything else positive to say about this movie. I ended up leaving early because this plot has been played out so many times.There wasn't good character development at the beginning so you didn't really get attached to any character. Time jumped around pretty rapidly, they could have shown more what it was like to grow up on Mars. How did his relationship with Tulsa start?There were a lot of inconsistencies in the movie as well, at one point there is a beautiful autumn back ground then in the next scene there is snow, then autumn again.Are Mars candy bars even still available? Haven't seen these in years.Another thing I noticed; when they went shopping at Sam's club, you need a memberships to enter and make purchases at that store, and it showed their purchases in pinkish/red bags, Sam's club (at least in my area) does not provide shopping bags due to the large size of most items.When they came out of Sam's club they were in a truck, in the previous scene they were in a black BMW suv, where did this truck come from?I was expecting a lot more and was quite disappointed, glad I didn't have to pay to see it.

Quite implausible plot. Tried to tell me too much in too little time. Probably would have been better as either a longer movie or spread over several movies and I felt the endinbg set me up for a sequel that I won't want to see.

Liked the way it started as it does set up a bunch of possibly interesting stories. The one they decided to go with was way more young adult themed than I anticipated and I think the movie suffered because of it. Most of the acting is mostly off except Carla Gugino who is always nailing her material. Had some sweet moments, but so many puzzling aspects of the storytelling kept these moments from being very special. I just didn't think The Space Between Us was a good movie unfortunately.
