I think in some part it felt like it was a spoof movie but it has a lot of gore for the gore lovers. I wish they would have went a little deeper on the grandfathers stuff and how important it was to everything in this particular movie but all in all it was an ok movie

Ok but deadites didn’t transform into more grotesque creatures, with more prosthetics and weirdness of the Raimi movies. These deadites just deteriorated and the cgi was poor on the boyfriend. Also didn’t care about the family because they were reduced to stereotypes right away. It had its moments but meh

Top-notch cinematic gore once the carnage began in earnest, though the human element felt half-baked.

I'm torn because I think there is a type of person that truly enjoys this over the top gore, and I would definitely recommend this movie to them. But as someone that loves all things Evil Dead, including the TV show and even the musical, I was unimpressed. I expect plenty of blood and guts with the franchise, but some scenes were just gory for shock value, not in the spirit of campy bloody fun and came across as gratuitous and unnecessary.
