Marginal acting and filming. Story only slightly interesting.

The important aspect of Asian American basketball stardom dribbles along the court in a disjointed sequence. The acting could/should have been stronger, the plots were too many and too scattered, the result was a poor overall attempt at an important and relevant subject matter.

I really wanted to like this movie. It had some compelling themese but the acting wasn't good and the writing/dialogue was terrible. So many key plot points that were never explained or developed. Like his relationship with Monk, why was Boogie so belligerent, how did he actually win Juciy over, why was city prep his chance at beating monk if they were trash and what spurred his change of heart. All of these things were dealt with in a cartoonish way.

This wasn't my favourite movie. I felt like there was so much more that needed to be covered but then the movie was over. The main character was very entitled and treated the other characters so poorly that it was hard to become invested in him. I loved the "You are a coming of age story" line, it was very well written.
