A strong entry in the disaster film genre. Especially prescient given the current social collapse that will likely resonate with audiences. What was particularly interesting about this movie was that it did not place the viewer in a privileged position. You're just another sh'mo trying to figure it out: an aspect very pointedly demarcated by the presence of other people who did get a free ride to Greenland. But perhaps the most salient message of this film comes from its contrast with Armaggedon. In that film there was a single brick that was slotted to careen through the window of civilization, but our intrepid heroes were up to the task of stopping it. Fast forward 25 years and we now accurately understand that the problem facing the world is fragmented and does not lend itself to an easy solution. And the dour mien that accompanies that understanding pervades this dark, disaster movie, and is the very element that most resonates as we close 2020, the year when all our frosted tips and Jake Gyllenhaal disaster delusions come home to roost.

It's certainly not a masterpiece, but it's the best natural disaster movie we've seen in years. A better script than we're used to seeing in a natural disaster flick that relief more on relationships than the special effects and it was appreciated. Enjoyable!
