It was authentic to the Asian American experience of growing up in that era. I liked the fact that it did not shy away from the awkwardness of trying to figure life out and finding yourself and others in a setting where you feel alone. It artistically communicated that well without having to say anything.

it was funny, heart wrenching, and wonderfully told. Joan Chen's performance was understated and powerful in her role as the piece holding it all together, but barely. I could see my students in the main character as he navigated his way through teendom as awkwardly and uncomfortable as teens do. Go check it out, it's a time stamp of the early 2000s and life on the Internet and on the streets until the streetlights come on.
