Andrew Garfield should get numerous award nominations for his amazing portrayal of Padre Rodrigues. Scorsese's work of a lifetime could have used an editing tweek or two, but that would be nitpicking. Moving cinematography and small, but very personal characters kept the story from stumbling around.

Lengthy, but worth the 2+ hours. There are some violent scenes that are very tough to watch. Great period puece dipction; would definitely recommend (as i had 2 people harassing me for a ticket while i waited for my guest to join me.)

It was beautifully shot, but was a bit long.
