Dope movie great concept

I attended the World Premiere of this at Tribeca Fest. I thought it was good. Very timely and relevant. Good cast. I do think this is more of an Independent type of movie that would be great at Angelika Film Center or IFC then regular theaters. I was quite surprised that Focus Features was behind this because it didn’t seem like something they’d be behind.

I found it very funny and it made me homesick for Texas :)

I've been describing this to my friends as somewhere between a black comedy, western, thriller and think piece — it really honors each genre/category while blurring the lines between them. Even the more absurd scenes are grounded in emotions so universal that you find yourself relating to them. I spent the first two-thirds of the movie laughing and the last third on the edge of my seat, so fully absorbed in the dialogue. I haven't had that kind of moviegoing experience in a while.

A lot of introspection and a lot of laughs. I was surprised multiple times during the film! Great Q&A with BJ Novak after.

loved it! A dark comedy, not what we expected since it was listed as a "Thriller/Horror" this listing alone would have kept my husband and I from seeing the movie, if we didn't have free passes. B. J. Novak is great, loved the fish out of water story line. Great cast.
