Watch it

Beautifully shot with a virtuoso cast, this was a really enjoyable film. I took one star off because some of the moralizing was a bit heavy handed and some scenes were a bit over-explained. I also could have done without the last 45 minutes to an hour of the film. It had a great natural ending, but then it went on unnecessarily to make points overtly that were already made subtly. Still great.

It is very overwhelming, but it’s also incredibly fun. I loved it, although I thought it’s nowhere near as good as La La Land. The performances are incredible, I loved the editing and the cinematography and I thought the story (although it was intense) was very believable and coherent. I did not even realize it was 3 hours long because the pacing was perfect in my opinion.
