It's a visually poetic film, and deeply moving in a slow build sort of way. Great characters, great acting.By the time our hero plays his oud at the end, we are all yearning for it as much as he is--but in a less complicated way. The gentle and stunning reveal of a final "acceptance" is shattering, because we have been lifted gently into the stark reality of this character's need. The story is surprising and seems to keep to a truth that transcends cliches and tropes. The mother singing to her son over the phone . . . devastating.

Poignant and funny - I laughed, I cried, I often did both at the same time. Its understated style makes its delivery of important & nuanced messages about the refugee experience and the attitude of host countries all the more powerful.
