\rIt was a good movie, BUT with subtle portrayals of "Ugly Americans" ? All elaborate planning done by the father, could have just easily been demonstrated, and said, prior to the eventual conclusion ? Still, it was a heartwarming movie about family, relationships and what we sacrifice in order to obtain, and maintain, them ! The older brother had every reason to feel the way he did, and well portrayed by Luis Mendez, while the younger brother, played by Connor Del Rio, had his character presented for laugh relief. While there are some holes in the plot, it had an original storyline !

Half Brothers was a true guilty pleasure. From the outset we knew we'd have to suspend our disbelief along with our irritation with the characters. And so we did and were rewarded with a sweet film laced with laughs. This was a stupidly funny film and we enjoyed watching it. Some great running gags. We knew everything would turn out in the end, but the game was guessing how it would come about. We also enjoyed the shots of San Miguel de Allende but wondered about how that could be since the credits stated the film was shot on location in New Mexico?

I wouldn't call this a "must see" movie, but it was kind of cute. I would recommend it as one to watch. Good relationship building between the brothers as the story progresses and you could see how the same relationship was also occurring between Renato and his fiancee's son. The best part of the movie was the last 45 minutes.
