Great war epic. I thought the casting was well done and the story invoked a strong emotional response from the audience. There were definitely some elements that I thought were slightly overdone, and typical of war movies, but they only slightly detracted from a mostly positive experience.

The movie took enough time to develop characters w/o over kill. It didn’t demonize the US Soldiers nor their Afghani allies. The violence was not too gory and the character interactions were not too heavy handed. It wasn’t a “feel good story” but yet a strong that felt good, realistic and did not disrepect the soldiers the story was based on the over dramatizing their dialog.

Wow, the carnage! The reality of war sets in. It was "us" against "them." This movie shows us what it takes to kill a "monster"...that we become a "monster" ourselves. On my way out of the movie theatre, somebody yelled out, "That was an awesome movie!" "What was so awesome about it, exactly?" I thought to myself. Oh, yeah, the fact that we won...but, at what terrible price?

Action packed yet very serious movie
