First of all, Thank you STX Entertainment for this special screenings. The best draw for me came from KJ APA. Let all admitted this guy is sex on a stick and it didn't hurt to have a tush shower scene. I like the storyline set in the near future with genre bending science fiction & love story twist. I was deeply involved with the characters and like the semi-apocalyptic world the filmmaker has created. I did feel this movie would play to an teen/ young adult crowd the most. But I was entertain and would certain recommend this movie to other. Watch out KJ APA a big Movistar in the making. Please include me in future screenings. I LOVE MOVIES!

The movie was interesting and fast paced. I was surprised at the low level of violence but that was ok with me. It seemed more like a love story than an action packed, edge of your seat kind of movie.

In my opinion, Songbird will capture the attention of the audience, due to the film covering the widespread pandemic of COVID-19. However, I decided to rate the film 4 stars, only because the “love and fight” of the two lovers Nico and Sara, drives the film undermining the real problem at hand—the infection. This film highlights that society had certain things stripped away from them—holidays, birthdays, monumental celebrations. But, the film does not severely highlight the growing pain of those losing loved ones to COVID-19, and the affects it has on relationships. I’m wondering actually, the use of colors in the film—the beginning scene where Nico is seen wearing a striking yellow shirt, alarming the characters. The rest of the film, colors are mild—not as prominent as I were hoping. Ideally, most films don’t focus primarily on color, except for scenes where Mr. Griffen and May have their rendezvous— but with the seriousness of COVID-19, I would’ve loved to see some some of symbolism that related specifically to this issue. Other than that, the film is passing, due to restrictions of production at the moment. It was great though, seeing some key actors in the film such as Bradley Whitford, Alexandra Daddario, Craig Robinson, Jenna Ortega, and Demi Moore which brought my attention to parts that may have lacked substance in the film. I’m excited to see how the film does when it’s released. - Tiara B. Cosby DePaul Graduate Student Film & Television Concentration in Cinematography
