An unconventional and thoughtful (and thought-provoking) treatment of a difficult subject. Thank goodness the film steered clear of hackneyed, made-for-TV movie cliches! Not having read the book on which it's based, maybe this honesty reflects the character of the source material. I found it hard, nearly impossible, to pigeonhole or label this movie -- which I consider to be a compliment.

Little slow in parts; hard to understand Earl speaking. Actress who played the dying girl was beautiful and the actor who played "me" was perfect for the part. Although the girl dyes at the end, the movie was not a "downer".

Very cleaver dialogue and concept. Different kind of movie. Enjoyed it!
