It's kind of confusing if you haven't read the books. Idris & Matthew are both good actors.

While the movie has a slow start, it gets exciting pretty quickly. Serious DT fans beware, however. This film is more fan fiction than true to the book. The characters' back stories have been changed, as well as the events from the novel.

Decent

It's "fine" (2 1/2 stars). Decent popcorn flick, but I'm not sure who it's really targeted towards. Too much sci-fi/fantasy for the maintstream crowd, but not enough for the genre crowd. There appears to be a glimmer of possibility with unique world-building, but the end result is kind of generic. It could use a little more mystique and soul.
