It feels similar to The Martian and Interstellar while breaking up moments with humor that doesn’t detract from any scene. It felt well paced and the characters were given enough room to breathe without dragging things out. Everything lands in its proper place.

Absolutely phenomenal. A modern masterpiece on all accounts. Equal parts funny and charming, clever and heartfelt. Gosling puts on a masterclass with his new friend.

This did everything I had hoped when I was reading it years ago. I slightly preferred the experience of reading this to watching, but only slightly. Lord, Miller and Gosling inject so much life and fun into the film. This story is a tall task and the exposition always felt as natural as it could. I had a few minor quibbles but nothing I couldn't get past as I was thrilled to see the pages come to the screen. I didn't recognize him but Lionel Boyce really stood out in his role.

Read the book a few weeks ago and the film stacks up really well. Wish they left in a bit more of the exposition and science stuff but I totally understand why they cut it out. The cinematography was epic, especially the Adrian sequence. I love how Grace and Rocky's relationship was front and center for most of the film, as opposed to the book where he didn't get introduced until like halfway through. At this point, idk if it's possible for Lord and Miller to make a bad movie
