If you thought that this film just another dog movie, think again. Instead, it is a raw, fresh take on survival at it's most heart-wrenching best. The original screenplay, where there is not one word of English spoken is a new approach to foreign film. Add to that, beautifully filmed cinematography in some of the most remote and pure places of the world and its well chosen cast and you have a slam dunk.

Alpha is a great story about the will to survive and the companionship of an unlikely foe that grows into interdependence as the two species learn to work together and battle the elements. The movie has visually appealing landscape images. For a movie with little dialog enough emotion was protrayed to get the message/feeling across. This movie really made me think of the early times humans roamed the earth and that had to do with the costumes and set pieces.

Very entertaining and heartwarming movie! Enjoyed it! Not good for small children though as they may find it scary and too violent. Probably fine for ages 10 and up.
