I really liked the performances from the lead actors. The manipulation of sound throughout was deeply affecting. The scenes with the children were very natural.

As a musician and a former drummer, I can relate to the devastating impact that a loss of hearing would be for someone who loves playing music. I couldn't help but wonder how Beethoven continued to compose in spite of the loss of his hearing. The two main characters are so committed to one another that the separation that is forced upon them by the loss of hearing is a hurt that I felt even merely as a spectator to their lives. The audio production on this film was extremely complicated but well executed giving the audience a chance to experience the tragedy that life sometimes brings.
