As a ready of the Dark Tower books, I feel like this movie tried to do too much and, in doing so, didn't do quite enough. It has a very "Hollywood" feel to it in that it's more generic action/sci-fi movie than the Dark Tower series deserves. The actor who played Jake was excellent, as was McConaughey as the Man in Black. Elba was good as Roland but there was something missing from his performance that I can't describe. Maybe the accent that I couldn't place.

Wasn't sure what I was going to get with this film. Hard to tell anything from the trailer. I was pleasantly surprised. Compact story with elements of King's books.

So much potential. Did not deliver.

From the trailer I was expecting an dark action movie, I felt the movie was mainly for kids. As a kid movie it was OK. Actors were good, I felt the story didn't really make you fall in love with the characters. A decent movie.
