Loved the cast and the tension created by the ticking clock element, the score (scratchy, frenetic sounding at times), and camera techniques (sudden changes between bright and dark scenes; unnerving flashbacks to the attacks). Definitely worth a watch for the performances alone, even the younger actresses were stellar. Felt eerily timely given the circumstances of women's rights in the USA, despite them in older garb, the census taker anchoring us in the knowledge this isn't that long ago either adds a haunting aspect to it all.

An important film with important messages regarding female empowerment. However, I felt many times during the movie that the script should be read instead of seen. I felt the need to re-read or revisit what the women were saying. The performances are solid and the photography gripping. I may see it again.

A disturbing and deeply moving slice of life set in a Christian religious community where some of the men are secretly drugging and raping women and girls as young as three and a dozen or so survivors form a "minyan" to discuss whether they should stay silent, stay and fight, or leave. Highly recommended!
